La Residence d'Angkor is an absolutely delightful hotel at which to stay when visiting the Seim Reap area.- 30/07/2007, Mr. Paul Brisk
La Residence has beautifully designed all-teak pavilions set in lush gardens, which include a large saltwater swimming pool. The rooms are ample and furnished simply. Truly a gem! Highly recommended!- 28/09/2008, Mr. WeeLit Lim
Antanue is a good place to stay in Siem Reap.Very reasonable price with 4-5 star hotel sevices provided.I can see smiling faces on staffs everytime.Nice breakfasts especially big surprised by the Janpanese style breakfast.I enjoy having breakfast out of my room with good pool view everymorning. This relaxing place makes me change iternary to stay 3 more days there.I spend totally 8 days at this place.Distance to town centre(old market)not very far ,it takes us only 10 minutes walk to reach there.I stayed in the superior room on the floor and just few steps for me to jump into the swminng pool.Room is kept clean everyday .Bathroom is another surprise for me in this country. The driver who drove us to the hotel from airport is very helpful too.The domestic airlines left one of my luggage bag in Phnom Penh airport.Airlines staff in the airport was unwilling to do extra for us beacause it was late in night. The hotel driver helped us to solve the problem that I can get my stuffs on the next morning.Highly recommended place to stay!- 13/07/2008, Ms. Tam Nga Ying Pheona

there was one night when we asked for our complimentary water, and the service staff came to deliver it, but was insisting on entering the room, while he was told to just pass on the bottles, he pushed the door wide open and made an attempt to enter the room, even if he was not invited to. on another occasion, the service staff opened the door with their own key, without knocking, WHILE we were IN THE ROOM! obviously someone must be told about their entering-the-room etiquette. otherwise, we found that the staff was very friendly and warm, and the service in the room was perfect. they came to clean twice a day, and replenished amenities and changed towels each time.- 10/02/2008, Ms. Doreen Cuenca

Sala Bai Hotel School
BookLocation: Siem Reap
From: USD 15.00
This is a wonderful little hotel. The fact that it is a hotel school and by staying here we are able to help Cambodian youth train for the hospitality industry doubles the good feeling. Everyone we saw was so pleasant, helpful and caring - such beautiful smiles. Our room was wonderful - large, comfortable and kept impeccably clean. The little extra touches were most welcome. We had both breakfast and lunch in the restaurant and would suggest that no visit to Siem Reap would be complete without experiencing one or both. The Khmer food was great and the pork medallions were exquisite. The service was first-rate. Our congratulations to this year's group of graduates as they find jobs in the hotel/tourism industry. They are well-prepared and so want to please. What a great experience!! Now, when the cookbook is available in English, is there a way to order from the website??- 19/03/2008, Mr. David Johnson
Sala Bai does great work - they are training future hospitality employees. So the rooms are super clean, food in the restaurant is good, and all are eager to help. The result is a great effort. Sometimes there are limitations with English or knowing what to do (they are students and some requests are 'first times' for them), but they work hard to make things right. Conveniently located, if you're looking to stay at a place that can make a difference, this is the one. Just don't bother about the free taxi service - ours never arrived as promised (like many other comments on this board) and it's only $5 to get into town.- 05/03/2008, Ms. Jennifer Norris

BookLocation: Siem Reap
From: USD 40.00
Good hotel, close to all the temples - good value for money- 16/04/2008, Mr. James Miller
We were very impressed with this place. The location is too far to walk to town but dont despair as the tuk-tuks are great fun and the hotel will provide you with a detailed sheet on all the proper transport fees to/from town (real cheap!). There are always tuk-tuks out the front of the hotel and they will wait in town to take you back or you can arrange a pickup time if you want. Breakfasts were basic and setting was really relaxing which is just what you need after a long day of romping through the ruins. Pool doesnt go astray either. There is one awesome restaurant strip in town with a fantastic night vibe and good food. We loved the Khymer curry at the Kyhmer family restaurant (about midway down). The Night market in town was also a fun experience (tourist goods only). Free hotel pickup from the airport was also spot-on. Driver was there waiting exactly as organised. We used cars & tuk-tuks to see the ruins and would only use tuk-tuk's if we went again as it enhances the experience.- 04/02/2008, Mr. TROY GORANDER

Golden Temple Villa
BookLocation: Siem Reap
From: USD 15.00
Golden Temple Villa is a great place to stay, close to everything. Unfortunately, the staff didn't tell us that the entrance is free to see the sunset in Angkor Wat if we have bought the one day pass for the next day. So, I paid an extra unnecessary US$40 just to see a sunset. Remember, sunset in Angkor Wat is FREE if you have a 1-day pass for the next day, which is US$20 per person. Book the massage as soon as you arrive. It was all full, so no massage for us in the hotel.- 25/09/2008, Mr. Eng Aik Teoh
Initially I was very worried about doing a free and easy trip. I had not have enough information which places to visit and such but I am so glad that the staff at Golden Temple Villa were so helpful. They arranged a surprise bday celebration for my partner as requested, tuk tuks for us at our requested timing, booked the bus tickets to phnom penh and the best part of all was they got us an amazing guide, Mr. Srun Sarat to show us around siem reap temples.Without Mr. Sarat I dont think our trip would have proven worthy. Kudos to all the staff at Golden Temple Villa.- 20/06/2008, Mr. Balaji Ragothaman

Once you get past the noisy dusty road outside, the pool & bar area just inside the front gate is a welcome cool & relaxing oasis to unwind in after a day at the temples or touring. The staff are so kind and helpful and it is a positively charming guesthouse-- not too many rooms, quiet, romantic, and beautiful balconies and very tasteful architecture. You need to specify clearly to the tuktuk drivers, that the hotel provides at a daily charge, of where exactly you want to go. We were happy that the pick-up was waiting for us when we exited the arrival hall. The driver was corteous. At hotel check in, the receptionist, Ms Lin seems nice and offerred information of sighseeing at Angkor Wat and other activities. Well, since we arrived early, we decided to use the same driver to Angkor Wat for the day. However we are very unhappy that for the Apsara dance that she suggested to us for booking for the following night, she failed to give us exact details as to where it was held and booking procedures. She only told us it was USD10 per head for some dinner which came with free Apsara dance show. The next morning we decided that we can't make it for the show and told her to cancel for us and she refused to cancel for us by giving lots of excuses and told us that it wasn't allowed. We argued with her as we have given ample time before the event. Finally after much debate, she called to the restaurant and she told us that we must pay her USD5 for the cancellation which she claimed was the restaurant's charges for cancellation. We were shocked that she never told us this before and have no choice but to pay her the USD5! Gone were the pleasantries and courtesy from her. Moreover, we found bed bugs biting us during our 2 nights stay there. Maybe it was due to the old mattress. The communication level and proper explanation of bookings needs improvement to prevent discrepancy.- 23/06/2008, Mrs. patricia har

Absolutely brilliant trip but beware of the trips to Angkor Wat. Suggest getting a guide from the beginning. Its best to buy the entrance pass on the day you arrive Siem Reap at 5pm and not any earlier in which you can get to go into the Angkor Wat and view the sunset for free and still get to go in the next day. We got conned into buying a day pass at 4pm to see the sunset in Angkor by the some of the staff working at the ticketing booth and the ticket is only good for that day. USD 20 per person just to climb some hills and view the sunset? Big Time Rip Off!! Also, should anyone decides to take a boat ride from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh - think twice, do so at your own risk. Ferry boats does not have any life rafts not sufficient life jackets. Ferry boat is packed like sardines in tin cans and its way overloaded for trips across the vast Tonle Sap lake. There are no marine regulation governance but total greed and reaping it in as much as possible from tourists. This is a grave accident waiting to happen. - 03/01/2008, Mr. KEN Yip
we were very happy with all matters, however there is one thing I would like to mention. there was an umbrella (with the hotel logo) in the room. One day we borrowed it and went out shopping and left it in a shop by mistake. the hotel wanted to charge us USD25 for the lost umbrella saying that was the hotel "policy" and that such umbrella were sold in their on-site shop. the umbrella was poor in quality and nowhere in the room stated that this item was chargeable. We protested but they did not want to hear anything. At the end we refused and offered to go back to the shop where we left that umbrella by mistake the day before to try and retrieve it. we were fortunate to find it and took it back to the hotel.- 06/06/2007, Ms. Beatrice Joliot

The staff picked up us at airport as promised with placard of our names. The guesthouse is new, so the room is bright, clean & kept well. They addressed any room issue immediately. The tuk-tuk we booked thru them was superb - punctual, drive carefully, flexible, std-price (USD8 per day), not trying to sell you everything, helpful and trustworthy. Overall service is friendly and good. We suspected the guesthouse location seems different from the WHL's Siem Reap map but was okay since we got excellence Tuk-Tuk services. Also, with booking, we were charged USD15 but walk-in rate (advertised at the entrance) is only USD10 ! Trip Advisor had some warnigns against the rooms not being kept well or having certain odors. As we have two other couples traveling with us, two of us were lucky and didn't have any issues at all, the third did not have a shower curtain, bathroom that didn't work properly and certain odors, but nothing that they couldn't live with. However, it is on a curvy road with no sidewalk and we were not daring to walk around the first couple nights for fear that we would get lost finding our way back. Food and beer at the roof-top bar were good and cheap. The guest-house mostly catered to young European back-packers. Rooms were large but had mosquitos and geccos. They only offered 1 blanket (no top-sheet). We got a warm shower but many rooms had only cold showers, room had ceiling fan and A/C. Free internet in lobby was slow but OK. Stray dogs wandered around the grounds. Staff was very helpful in arranging tours and rides too town. If you have a family - maybe spend a little more $ and stay near the river or down-town, closer to walking everywhere. Overall - OK as long as you want a cheap place and know what you are getting into. Friendly staff made up for the other short comings.- 07/04/2008, Mr. John Murray
When I arrived, the hotel did not have my reservation and wanted to offer me a room without air conditioning. In the end we got a double rather than a twin room with air conditioning, which was not what I booked. This was frustrating. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help, organising a guide for the Angkor temples, etc. New Years Eve party was very nice! The guesthouse was quite noisy, sound travelled down from the bar on the terrace throughout the night.- 10/01/2008, Ms. Francesca Lemass

Five Star Angkor
BookLocation: Siem Reap
From: USD 8.00
5 star Angkor is a basic but pleasant guest house that is close enough to amenity and yet far away sufficiently to be calm and quiet. Cleanliness and security are good. It would be complete if breakfast is also provided (like most other guest houses in Seam Reap).- 11/09/2008, Mr. Chee Hian Tan
Nice, clean, basic room. ( has HBO ) very hospitable manager.- 28/06/2008, Mrs. Lily Chang

We spend 3 days/2 nights in Siem Reap and stayed at Passaggio. The service was very good, personeel always keen and responsive to our requests. Good breakfast included while rooms are simply furnished but clean, Air Conditioned and spacious. Location is perfect, very centric but out of the noisy old market quarter.- 21/08/2007, Mr. Paolo Cortinovis

We feel happy staying at this guesthouse. Guesthouse owner very willing to help and when we need breakfast in order to meet our early morning flight they specially wake up to prepare for us as early as 0500hr and we appreciate it very much.- 23/01/2008, Ms. Lim Geok Eng
It's a nice family-run atmosphere, without being over-the-top in their approach. The hotel is great value for a mid-range budget type Cambodian style. The room was spacious and clean with good facilities and a great bed! The TV and electricals, air-con, etc - were all good and I was certainly happy with the whole experience- 08/07/2007, Mr. Danny LLOYD

It is a nice hotel. Clean bathroom with hot water and bathtub. I really liked the hotel. I would love to come stay there again when I visit Siem Reap in the near future. Mr Svay Thean was a really nice person and he made me feel right at home in Siem Reap. Not forgetting the others such as Mr Cam Puch and Mr Sovet. Little World Guesthouse

Generally SiemReap is a wonderful trip for us. It's full of wow wow factors esp the thousand years temples. A lot of tourist from around the world, they're very beautiful n pretty n charming. Wow! U must go to see it yourself. Words can't explain all things. We went there around end Jun (weather is very2 warm, i really mean it). A piece of advice drink more water. Oh yes! i wish Cambodia and Thailand can discuss the thing in peace. The temple is only a temple but human life is priceless. Don't use blood and tear to wash the temple. Our ancestor wish to share their efforts and arts to us not create war!! Both governments shall think deeply. Buhhdism is sharing not selfish. Fook from Malaysia-Puchong(27JUL'08).- 27/07/2008, Mr. Tiow Guan Lee
1) It was published in the website that there was hot shower but there wasn't in reality 2) Site also mentioned free breakfast but we had to pay in reality 3) Van for tours is infested with mosquitoes and the tyre punctured on the way back - 27/02/2008, Ms. Wai Leng Wong
